Lucky Restaurant
Kohsamui
Thai and Western
After 5 years running there own successful restaurant in Lamai, Steve & Nit Buckley decided to move to a quieter part of the island and open Lucky Restaurant, built from the ground up two and half years ago.
Located on the beach road at the southern end of Nathon Town, it has beautiful views looking out over the Gulf of Thailand, with Ang Thong Marine Park and the mainland on the horizon.
The menu is vast and varied, with a good selection of classic Thai dishes, Western favourites and comprehensive vegetarian options.
We surveyed some locals who regularly dine at Lucky to find out what their favourites dishes were, here are a few of their recommendations;
Panang Chicken - Chicken Lemon Grass - Ma Ta Ba - Tom Yam Goong - Indian Curry & Rottee - Fresh-made Pizza Gra Pow Gai - Fish & Chips - Meat Pie & Mash Potato Full English Style Breakfast
Our personal favourite is the Tom Yam Goong, we honestly haven't tasted better on the island.
A special mention should be made about the vegetarian options, there are 20 meals on the menu dedicated to the omnivores and many regular customers return for this option.
One thing is for sure, you're guaranteed absolute freshness of ingredients. Steve & Nit buy everything fresh from the local fish and vegetable markets daily, sometimes twice daily. It's bought fresh on the day and used on the day.
As a family run restaurant, you do receive warm and friendly service from the staff. Steve himself is a charismatic character who takes a genuine interest in restaurant diners, ensuring you have an enjoyable experience.
The prices range from 60 Baht to 220 Baht, an average meal with fresh fruit shake will set you back 120 Baht, definitely good value for money.
Even if you're not hungry, there is a good range of beers and fresh coffees to enjoy while watching the world go by along the beach road.
